Strekka

Strekka is an expressive sans serif family by Groteskly Yours Studio, shaped by the visual language of road signage and the irregular ways typography adapts to urban environments. Rather than treating these changes as flaws to be corrected, Strekka draws from weathering, repairs, additions, and small distortions that accumulate over time. The result is a typeface built on a solid sans serif structure that is constantly challenged by uneven details, altered proportions, and unexpected gestures.

Developed through ideas of deconstruction, Strekka does not approach its forms as fixed or perfectly resolved. Its letters were built through observation of how public lettering is stretched, repainted, patched, compressed, or made to fit changing conditions. This gives the family a distinct utilitarian character, balancing roughness and rhythm without turning every feature into a flashy effect. Upright and monospaced styles offer different interpretations of the same system, spanning the spectrum from the more practical to the outright deliberate and experimental.

Strekka was designed for branding, posters, editorial work, digital projects, and display typography. As a package, Strekka brings a utilitarian, deliberate, and constructed quality to contemporary graphic design. Its varied forms make it suitable for designers looking for a sans serif that feels less neutral and more responsive to its environment and time. Strekka doesn't aim to be an invisible font, but instead it embraces its structure, insecurities, and ideas.
