Alfold

Alfold is a serif font family in 9 styles, drawing its name and inspiration from a 1936 issue of Alfold magazine, published in Subotica. The complete Alfold family comprises Upright, Semi-Mono, and Mono subfamilies, each sharing common features while retaining a toned-down, neutral character. Though Alfold borrows certain visual features from its source material, it is a thoroughly modern family, ready for use across a wide range of design scenarios, from web and interface design to more experimental contexts.

The Alfold Upright subfamily is designed as a workhorse typeface, equally at home across any point size or context. It is characterized by tight spacing and well-balanced letterforms that lend themselves to more uniform, structured layouts. Rather than following familiar serif conventions, Alfold introduces sharp flared terminals, flat serifs with rectangular connectors, and a handful of serif-less glyphs that accentuate its unique rhythm while keeping the overall structure consistent.

Alfold features a 560+ character set with styles ranging from Thin to Black, plus a variable font. It also includes a selection of OpenType features (stylistic alternates, fractions, and case-sensitive forms, etc.) that allow designers to fine-tune the typeface to suit their project.
