Bubble gum originated as a more elastic alternative to traditional chewing gum, offering both a fun way to chew and blow bubbles. In the 1940s, bubble gum became popular, and by the 1950s, flavors like “Double Bubble” dominated the market. While initially made from chicle, today’s bubble gum typically uses synthetic rubber to achieve its texture.

Inspired by 20th-century hand-painted signs and the visual culture of the 1980s, Arlen adds a little extra flair to this already charismatic mix. Arlen is a display font that can be freely used for larger bodies of text. Among its most prominent visual features are high contrast, flaring stems, and dynamic letterforms.
